Well hello there! Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you had a great long weekend!
Mine was spent working. Yep! I had so many deadlines to get caught up on that I went into the office on Sunday and Monday for a few hours. All caught up now 🙂
Well, you may have seen this chair in a recent blog post of my colorful eclectic living room, and I got so many comments on it that I thought it deserved a post of it’s own; although a short one 🙂
This has become my most favorite piece of furniture ever!
I have owned this chair now for about 10 or 11 years (pre-Design career 🙂 ). It is a pretty high-end Drexel Heritage chair that I was able to customize with the fabric and finish. It was a part of a collection I bought back then for my formal living room. It was one of those rooms that never got used and had all expensive, “precious” furniture in.
Here is my old living room long time ago. Do you see the chair off to the right? This entire furniture set-up was all Drexel Heritage and cost a pretty penny about 11 years ago. I grew really tired of the red and the whole traditional look, and certainly a room that never got used
MY OLD LIVING ROOM FROM MANY YEARS AGO DURING MY TRADITIONAL DAYS
This is the chair before.Since the chair didn’t get used much, it was still in mint condition, but I still wanted to re-upholster it.

Here is a side by side view
Chair – BEFORE and AFTER
It was no longer my style as far as the silk damask fabric, but I still loved the frame. I certainly did not want to maintain the traditional look of the frame by using a traditional fabric, so I decided to go in the opposite direction and choose a very whimsical and fun fabric from Robert Allen.
I loved that this fabric pulled in all the colors of the room – the indigo background color keeps it from looking too childlike.
I didn’t stop there with the whimsical charm. I decided to add nail heads to the chair. And not just any nail heads……..ones that have a little bit of unique charm – like little rosettes. Notice that the chair in the before picture has piping and not nail heads?
Here it is with a brightly colored pillow
And here is the chair from behind……sexy 😉
I think my upholsterer Hector did an amazing job!

What do you think? Are you digging the contrast between the traditional frame and the funky fabric?
I think even Rufus loves it 🙂
Me and My Hot Doggie, Rufus
I know, it may not be for everyone, but I LOVE it in my eclectic living room
Wishing You Beauty and Inspiration!
