Each year, Pantone and paint companies announce their color of the year. These choices are usually informed by careful examination of the fashion scenes in Europe, as well as what's trending in home fashions in international markets.
Whether we realize it or not, the trends influence the colors that we bring into our homes. Sometimes it is not intentionally, as in, you're intentionally following trends, but it might be through the products available on the open market.
Since I am a color lover, and I specify colors all the time for my clients, I thought it would be appropriate for me to curate a group of 12 colors that I feel will be on trend for 2019.These are colors that I am hoping that I will get to use in upcoming projects.
My color-loving heart could not go on without a lot of really saturated colors, but I tried to include a good mix of muted, pastel and neutrals. Can you imagine that luscious yellow, maybe in a dining room? Ok, it would require a strong commitment to yellow, but you will always hear me preach that colors do not exist in a vacuum. It is all about what you pair them with.
Case in point - the studio dining room below
I can imagine the resistance I would get if I suggested a citron wall with blue draperies to a client; yet this dining room is one of the most popular rooms in my portfolio. Every color is a good color if you use it right, so embrace the bold saturated colors on my curated color of the year list. You can look forward to my list every year, and who knows, it just may become a thing! :-)
