I am sure I am not the only one who keeps hearing that videos are the way to go when marketing your business online these days.
I agree, and for the longest while I have been wanting to do videos for my design business. Mainly how-to videos, design tips and ideas and room tours.
I am actually ashamed to admit that “doing videos” appeared on my New Years list of goals for 2014, and I never got around to doing one video 🙁 . Shame on me! Well, the main reason was lack of confidence and not wanting to be on camera, and the fear that I would completely screw it up.
Enter my new “SELFIE STICK”

I had been hearing a lot about these handy devices, and I thought for only a $22 investment I will give it a try to help get started with doing videos. The selfie stick is clearly not just for making duck faces infront of the bathroom mirror 🙂
Amazingly enough, it is like the selfie stick gave me the confidence that I needed. Although I am still trying to figure out all there is to know about it, it was easy to set up and easy to use. I felt so much at ease using it.
I have discovered that instead of trying to be super polished when doing these videos, I should just be myself. I can be quirky and random, and use hand gestures way too much. Lol, but this is who I am and I think my viewers will appreciate that much better than trying to be a “newscaster”. Being authentic is what it is all about. Therefore I won’t worry as much about my slight stutter, talking too fast, and sometimes losing my train of thought. My goal is to deliver great nuggets of design ideas, information and inspiration to help my viewers create their ideal home, full of beauty, comfort and functionality.
So I am sharing my very first video using the selfie stick. It is a bit shaky and quite a bit long (9:40) as it is unedited. My son Josh (13 years old) wanted to be in the video as well, and really he helped me feel more confident as I was making it. Take a look
So the video is basically a way to introduce my company – Casa Vilora Interiors, this blog and the fact that I will be doing regular videos on my channel that I am calling V-TV (V as in Veronica 🙂 ). I plan to do one short video per week with design tips and ideas, room tours whenever I have a new room to feature, and how-to videos with DIY and craft projects.
Feel free to subscribe to V-TV and let me know what you think in the comments section.
I promise that the future videos will be much shorter, and I will figure out how to edit them 😉
Now it’s your turn: What fear have you had to conquer, and what did you do to get over it?
Wishing You Beauty and Inspiration!
