We all have them, those little things we do when we are alone that we don’t necessarily want the whole world to know. Those secret indulgences that you know you shouldn’t enjoy, but you do anyway. Maybe they are nerdy things, lazy things, or just down-right embarrassing things, but there comes a time when we should all just fess up to these guilty pleasures, because chances are, you are not alone.
Here are my top 10 guilty pleasures that I am ready to let the whole world know…..Don’t judge me 🙂
1) My Endless Piles Of Design Magazines And Books
A Tiny Part Of My Design Magazine Collection
Yes, believe it or not, I own over 500 design magazines not including design books, that I have been collecting now for over 8 years. I have subscriptions to most of the publications like Better Homes & Gardens, Elle Decor, Traditional Home, House Beautiful etc. They were all nicely organized in shelves in my old home, but since the big move last June, they are several piles high on my living room floor, and there they will stay until I have my new bookcases built. My daughter keeps telling me to get rid of them, but I know they will be worth something one day…..well maybe not. But I love looking at them and through the pages and get new inspiration. They will go with me wherever I go. I am Designer, what can I say 🙂
2) Listening To The Backstreet Boys!
I have with been in love with the Backstreet Boys from the very first time I heard them back in the 90’s. I have most of their albums and have been to a couple of their concerts. The video clip above was from the last concert I attended last August in The Woodlands, TX. Boy that was fun! To me the Backstreet Boys are timeless 🙂
3) A Guy With A British Accent
I don’t know what it is about the British accent that makes me weak in the knees, but it does. I once dated a British guy for almost three years and I think that is the biggest thing I miss about him 🙂 Well I also miss the trips to England.
4) Sleeping In Every Morning
Yes I do it! I get up every morning at 6:00am, take the kids to school, get back home around 7:15 and promptly go back to bed until 9:00am. I guess I can being my own boss and my studio doesn’t open until 10:00am 🙂 I rarely make appointments before 10:00am for this very reason, unless I absolutely have to. Don’t act like you wouldn’t do it too! 🙂
5) Watching Cartoons…..All The Time
Cast of the Regular Show on Cartoon Network
I am definitely ashamed to admit that my TV watching time consists of watching cartoons, with and without my 12 year old son. Of course he introduced me to some of these silly shows like the Regular Show and Adventure Time, but I have to admit that the TV in my bedroom is stuck on Cartoon Network and I giggle like crazy watching these cartoons. I know all the characters, and even watch re-runs. I think that’s what keeps me sane in my crazy world 🙂
6) Eating Cashews Non-Stop
Cashews
I love raw organic cashews, and I can honestly say that I am addicted to them. I know they are good for me…..in moderation. But I eat at least one 16oz pack a day….yep, it’s that bad and way too much fat in one day!
7) Sleeping With My iPad Right Next To Me In Bed
I love my iPad, and it has its own spot right next to me in bed every night. I will literally get up in the middle of the night and make note of an idea that pops in my head. I am pretty sure I am not the only one…..or am I? 🙂
8) Eating Crawfish Occasionally
Crawfish
I have mentioned several times here on the blog that I changed my diet to an almost raw vegan diet over 10 months ago. But on rare occasions I will have a piece of salmon, and if I am invited to the famous crawfish boils here in Houston, I may have a pound or two. I really don’t crave it or miss it terribly, but I have had some since my diet change. Hey don’t judge me! Lol. Otherwise I am pretty good about sticking to the right food choices.
9) Shoe Shopping
Shoe Shopping In Aldo Manchester, England
I am pretty sure that most of you reading this are guilty of this one! Haha! Am I right, or am I right? Yes, I love shoes, almost as much as Interior Design. If I wasn’t an Interior Designer, I’d probably be a Shoe Designer 🙂 I have quite a collection myself and they do bring me joy. I really do try to budget for new shoes, because they are one of my must-haves. Are you guilty of this one?
10) Shopping At Forever 21
Veronica Solomon
I am totally going to own this one and not be ashamed…..I am 41 years old and I still shop at Forever 21! There, I said it and I feel better getting that out in the open. Haha! In fact, over 75% of the clothes I own were purchased there. The fun part is that my 17 year old daughter and I can shop together and we totally get each other’s styles. I love to wear trends, and shopping at Forever 21 is a great way to dress trendy without spending a ton of money. When the trends are out, no major financial set back. There are wonderful basics like t-shirts and jeans, and even the classic little black dress that you can buy for next to nothing. Be careful though, it is quite addicting! 🙂
Well, I just thought of one more…..so here’s a bonus for ya!
11) Spending Way too Much Time On Facebook
I have to admit that I spend way too much time on Facebook. As a matter of fact, I am never logged out of it. I spend a lot of very productive time on my business pages, but I do also spend a lot of personal time on there as well. I do believe in “using Facebook for good and not evil” as I often describe it – Meaning that I don’t use it to air my dirty laundry, or being mean to people, or some of the other crazy things I see people doing. I enjoy the fact that I can keep in touch with friends that I otherwise would not have.
So there you have it – My top 10 11 guilty pleasures. I’m not proud of them, but I am only human 🙂 What are some of your guilty pleasures? Fess up……I dare you 🙂
Wishing you all a marvelous Monday!
Be Inspired!
