Oh wow! It is already week number 3 of the One Room Challenge; I cannot believe it! This is usually where the nerves start setting in – where I am wondering what the heck did I get myself into!
If you haven’t been following the progress of my guest bedroom makeover you can check out week 1 and week 2 to find out where it all started. Trust me, it ain’t pretty 🙂
And just incase this is your first time hearing about The One Room Challenge (ORC), allow me to explain. The ORC was created by Linda of Calling It Home Blog and It is a design challenge where 20 designers makeover a room in their home or their client’s home and blog about the progress each Wednesday over a six week period leading up to the big reveal on week number six. Other designers like myself are invited to participate and blog about our progress each Thursday. It really is a neat idea and a lot of talented designers participate each time.
Here’s where we left it last time, and not a whole lot has happened since
THE ROOM CURRENTLY
This has me very nervous, but I have done this enough to know that it all works out in the end.
Of course I did get a bit of shopping done for items needed for the room:
I got a beautiful black bedskirt to go with the black and white duvet set (Loves it! 🙂 ). I got it with an 18″ drop, so it will hit the floor nicely.
Here’s the duvet set that I have had for a few months now.
I also purchased the fabrics that will be made into the custom pillows for the bed. I bit the bullet and got this beautiful Diane Von Furstenberg famous “China Vine” fabric in linen. I will have my work room make 2 small pillows with the a small flange in the fuchsia linen fabric. Super yummy! 🙂
Here’s the full repeat
So, I was getting ready to order the mirror I showed you last week. The one shown in this vignette
But then I remembered that I have this mirror at my design studio. Well duh! I will just paint it gold and voila! Sure, it is a bit more ornate, but it will still work with the room. I promise 🙂
I also got the drapery hardware and dropped off the drapery fabrics at my workroom. I am most excited about the drapery! I cannot wait to see it all finished!
I decided on the chandelier; thank you all so much for your votes on which one you liked the best. I will let you in on the final decision next week :-). Hopefully it will get here in time 🙂
I also got the lamps for the room – hopefully I will love them as much as the pictures online. I got one pair that are nice regular lamps for the night stands, and then I got a really quirky floor lamp that I will leave as a surprise at the big reveal. You will definitely want to show up for this one! 🙂
I did get the metal bed spray painted and put together the nightstand from Ikea
Remember the Ikea nightstand? It has been sitting unassembled in my laundry room for over a year, and it is finally assembled and ready to be spray painted white with gold accents
Here’s what the bed looks like now. I know it’s hard to really see the beauty now.
It will be even better in the room against the onyx walls. You’re gonna love it!
The antler arrived yesterday and I will probably get around to spray painting it this weekend
The rug also arrived and so did the ghost chair
There is quite a bit left to be done, and hopefully I will get them all done within the next three weeks and ready for the big reveal.
That’s it for this week. Be sure to come back next Thursday to check on my progress. Head on over to this week’s linky party to see what the other participants are up to.
Wishing You Beauty and Inspiration!
