Believe it or not, it is week #4 of the One Room Challenge, and the reality is really starting to sink in. You would think that after three previous times, I would know not to bite off so much! Eeeek!
What is the One Room Challenge you may ask? It is a design challenge created by Linda of Calling It Home Blog, where 20 designers makeover a room in their home or their client’s home and blog about the progress each Wednesday over a six week period leading up to the big reveal on week number six. Other designers like myself are invited to participate and blog about our progress each Thursday. It really is a neat idea and a lot of talented designers participate each time.
Well I did make some progress this week and will tell you about it in just a minute. In case you need to catch up on where I started and how I got to this point, check out week1, week 2 and week 3
I am ashamed to admit that after getting the main pieces in the room, my furniture layout just didn’t work…….shame on me, right? I promise that I measured, and the pieces fit, but it was just too overwhelming with the previous layout. Take a look at the original layout
The headboard was supposed to be the focal point; the first thing you see when you walk into the room. I love that arrangement in a bedroom. After placing the pieces, it did not leave a lot of room for the vanity at the foot of the bed.
Here’s the new layout, which will constitute a slight change of plans
Now the window will be the focal point. Fortunately I have some wickedly, amazingly sexy draperies (that were supposed to installed today) that will definitely make it a worthy focal point. To the left of the window, I will now create a floor to ceiling gallery wall. Kinda like this awesomeness from Lauren Liess

I think the disappointment of having to change up the furniture layout will work just fine. I was even able to get a small chair in the room! Don’t you love it when something negative ends up being positive?!
So are you ready to see the progress? Here goes……..
You can see that my massive queen size bed is big for the room, but isn’t it fabulous in gold? Remember where it started?
BEFORE
Yep, nice enough for my country guest bedroom years ago, but oh so chic now.
You can see the yellow chair in the corner. Just enough room for a bit of seating.
The wall infront of the bed will become the gallery wall and I am really excited to get that going.
More of the room…..
Here is the other side showing the vanity and chair
Here is the other nightstand all spray painted and ready to be brought upstairs into its rightful place. Where’s a brawny, handsome guy when I need one? 🙂
And I think my favorite thing is my daughter’s art that I took to Hobby Lobby to get custom framed. I cannot wait to see how they turn out
I just love the double frames. Yummmm. She was only about 15 or 16 when she painted these, and they are my favorite from her collection.
So what is left to be done?
A lot…………
I still need to get the drapery hung; that should happen today at some point 🙂
Shop for frames and art for the gallery wall……..this has me a bit nervous 🙁
Get the fabrics to my work room for the custom pillows
Shop for accessories
Shop for a new sheet set and coverlet
get all the art hung
Install mirror
Install light fixture – which still hasn’t arrived yet 🙁
Styling
Photography
Quite the laundry list, right? I can do it! Fingers….and toes crossed for me 🙂
Thanks for stopping by to check on my progress today! 2 more weeks to the big reveal! Be here for that. And of course, check out the linky party going on now to check out the other participants
Wishing You Beauty and Inspiration!
