It is countdown time, and I am over here feeling pretty nervous yet excited about our big day coming up on Friday, December 8th! The big dream of opening a design studio and showroom for Casa Vilora Interiors is really happening, and we are throwing a little party (well, more of an open house…..too tired to party 🙂 ).
In case you missed the beginning of the story about how I got to this point in my business, and the BEFORE photos, you can read it here. Grab the tissue, you’re gonna need it!
So, I have been pretty busy with the build-out, furnishing and moving into the space, plus managing the many projects we have on the books at the moment. And as if that wasn’t enough going on around here, I am also building a home to due to be completed in January. Wheeew! I do need a clone or two 🙂
Anyhoo, it has been fun, and rewarding. Seeing my dream become a reality energizes me, and totally motivates me to keep moving forward. A lot of prayers went into this move, and I am ready and equipped to make it all it needs to be.
So why a design studio and showroom? I have gotten that question before. Well, that is what I have now. I have been running my business outside of the home for about 5 or 6 years now. This is just stepping it up a notch or two. It is a more open space conducive to clients coming in and exploring the inspiring vignettes I have created. I will be conducting client presentations in the studio now versus in my clients’ homes as I do now. There is also some light retail sales of candles, pillows and accessories
Although I have a pretty strong design portfolio that shows a lot of my work for the last 4 years, I wanted to showcase a bit more of my creative range with this space. I enjoy bold, dramatic and an edgy pattern mix, and I went to town with that in the new studio. It may not be for everyone….especially with the popularity of shows like Fixer Upper on HGTV, but I think everyone will be able to appreciate the artistry and creativity that I brought to each room vignette
I included a living room vignette in the front,a s well as a dining room vignette – both using strong colors and daring pattern mix. There is also a bedroom vignette that is a bit more subdued, and a functional kitchen and a bathroom. The rest of the space is actually studio space where I house all my fabric samples and catalogs, and obviously work areas.
Well, enough talk. Let me show you some PROGRESS shots. Finish shots will be done on December 1st and it is a mad dash to get styling on point
READY?…………
Here is a sneak peek of the bathroom. More of a small powder room. You can see that I went bold with matte black on the walls, and then added moldings painted out in gold metallic paint. The snake giclee is a favorite find from High Point Market. Here is another view
This is the other wall of this small bathroom. my photographer will have her job cut out for her with capturing this room
The visible pipes are now nicely camouflaged
A better view of the snake.
This is the dining room vignette before the draperies were hung.
The draperies were hung to frame the “windows”, which as you can see are mirrors simulating windows. Custom drapery is a big part of what we do here and I wanted to showcase these beautiful iridescent silk panels. And speaking of Custom Drapery, don’t miss our “No Naked Windows Drapery Event” going on now. Click here for details
Up next is the living room vignette
This vignette has all my favorite things. That sofa has been a long time dream. I have always wanted a fully animal print – tiger or cheetah sofa. Not many clients would green light this one, but now that they can see it done, I might be selling quite a few 🙂 You can get yours too! 🙂
This is the kitchen backsplash going in. I was so excited to find these cement tiles. The space looks a whole lot better now
This wallpaper mural was a must-have
This is the bed in the bedroom vignette. I fell in love with this french style bed right away
Even my doggie Rufus is looking forward to the big opening day!
Thanks for checking out the progress of our new studio! I am super excited! Please follow along on Facebook where I do live videos and share lots more photos. You can also follow along on Instagram
