If you have been following me on Facebook, you would have seen that I am participating in the American Association of Interior Designers, Texas Gulf Coast Chapter (ASID TGCC) Holiday Showhouse in The Woodlands. I was selected to makeover a bedroom and bathroom in this gorgeous mansion on the lake that just underwent a massive renovation by Peterson Builders.
I am so honored to have been chosen amongst a group of some of Houston’s top designers. It has been challenging for sure, since we had a very short timeframe to get our spaces completed. But with every challenge comes creativity and victories and beauty.
I am very excited about my space, and I wish I could show you pictures at this point, but I have to keep the element of surprise, right? Since I love y’all so much, I will give you a little sneaky peeky though 🙂
My room was a boy’s bedroom in house with an attached bathroom. The room has a beautiful coved ceiling with amazing natural light from the wall of windows and French doors that overlooks the infinity pool and lake.
Here’s a view from upstairs (another part of the house)
Unfortunately I didn’t take a before picture of the space because it wasn’t my first r second pick.
The concept of the room is a reading retreat for the kids of the home. I decided to go for a slightly whimsical, fun yet classic space. Instead of a bed, I designed a daybed and had it custom made by my upholsterer.
Here are a couple of renderings of the daybed
It is the focal point of the room as you walk in.The room’s color scheme is very bold, but not over the top. I chose to paint the walls white since the ceiling is a bold sisal wallpaper, and that proved to be a great choice with the beautiful natural light.
Here is the color palette of the fabrics and wallpaper. As you can see, I looooove to mix patterns and textures. You will see how this all comes together when you visit…. and I think you will love it 🙂 .
Here’s a rendering of the room concept.
This is the vignette of the finished dresser wall. Notice the gorgeous Ralph Lauren mirror? That was a loaner from a friend and client.
The dressers (hardly visible in this picture) came with some drama that I will have to tell you about in another post. Lol. I need a few days (or months) to get over the stress of this one 🙂
Here is the bathroom with all the beautiful finishes that I picked out. The granite is even better in person. I still don’t have a shower door yet, but fingers crossed that it will be installed before this weekend’s opening.
I am so happy with this wall of original artwork by a fellow interior designer and artist Terri Lind Davis. I met her through various Facebook groups and have been an admirer of her work ever since. I was so thrilled when she agreed to paint these pieces for my room. Aren’t they to die for? (The mystery arms belong to my fine art installer Keith 🙂 )
So if you are local to Houston, plan to be at the showhouse this weekend to see all the beautiful work that was put into it.The halls are beautifully decked out for Christmas and I promise you will love every moment of it.
