Hello Lovelies!
Today’s post is all about a great master suite that we recently completed. You saw the master bathroom in the last post. If not, check it out here, so today we will be looking at the master bedroom.
I love doing colorful interiors, and we certainly did a lot of color in this project, but when it comes to master bedroom suites, I love to bring in a calming and serene palette
I worked for these great clients about 10 years ago, and after the flooding from Harvey, they called me in to help with the remodel of the lower level of their two story home.
This is where we started. These photos were taken during the initial consultation. They got about 3′ of water in their home and so the lower part of the sheetrock had to be removed. The draperies you are looking at in these BEFORE shots I did about 9 or 10 years ago. We decided that it was time to upgrade.
You can see that the room was in pretty rough shape
This BEFORE shot is when the painting began. My client liked the faux painting in the ceiling and wanted to keep it, but it was just a bit too dark and heavy for the new look we were going for. We brought in a faux painter to soften it just a bit to go with the more serene feeling of the rest of the space
Ready to see the finished space? Here goes!
Notice the much softer effect of the faux ceiling?
We started with a soft blue gray wall color in an eggshell finish for a subtle glow. The drapery was replaced with this beautiful silk damask print. Even the hardware was changed to a finish that worked better with the room.
The inspiration for the room came from the client’s rug, which was the same rug we worked with 10 years ago. They were able to save it from flooding and had it professionally cleaned. It looks like a brand new rug. All the room’s colors came from the beautiful rug
We chose a new king bed, nightstands and bed bench. Notice that we went with larger bachelor chests instead of nightstands? The room was large enough to accommodate larger pieces. One of my biggest pet peeves is nightstands that are out of scale with the bed
The chairs by the window are chairs we picked out over 10 years ago as well. They did get some water from the flooding, but we were able to have them restored and reupholstered in the beautiful striped velvet fabric. The mirrored table in between is a newer piece. Even the lamp on the small table was a purchase from ten years ago.
It makes me happy that we were able to reuse some of the original pieces we did years ago
The gorgeous bedding was all custom done for our client. Every single detail from the embroidered design to the fabrics and inserts were carefully chosen for this project. I prefer the look of a duvet over a comforter, but I don’t like when the insert moves around. I had my seamstress add small buttons inside the duvet cover to hold the insert in place. It makes for a more tailored look.
I had the custom pillow with the monogram done as a nice little surprise for this beautiful couple. I have always admired how loving they are, even after over 40 years of marriage! This pillow was just a keepsake as a celebration of their love.
I love the framed intaglios above the bed. They are soft and still strong and works perfectly with the rest of the space
The art was carefully chosen as well. This piece is one of three landscapes that we added to the space to really enhance the calm feeling. The other two not shown
A closer view of the delicious fabric that we chose for the chairs in the seating area, and the drapery fabric. Notice the silhouette style of the lampshade? Beautiful
A bit of a closeup of the beautiful bedding.
The result is a calming and beautiful retreat that my clients love.
Here is a glimpse of some other spaces we worked on
This is the powder room. We did this fabulous sisal metallic damask print wallpaper to dress it up just a bit. We went with the gorgeous granite and the artwork complements it so well
This is a glimpse of the formal living room. You can see that we went with lots of color here
And this is the family room
We did some work in the kitchen area as well. No photos yet
Thank you so much for checking out this beautiful space. We are quite proud of it.
